Question about Leila...

Recommended Posts

Hi, My old hookah has come to the end of it's life after a good service so I'm looking for a new one.
My old one was just a cheap one i picked up on the net, so I was wanting to spend a bit more on my next one and maybe get something a bit different.

I realy like the look of the Leila but worried about the cooling it can give, what's your experience been?

At the moment I'm torn between this and a MYA Vortex model I saw. I'm sure the portability of the Leila would come in handy.

+ it's not the first production 'portable' shisha, theres the Meduse Sniper, but thats way too much cash lol...

Eskimofo. Read the forum rules please. Do not places questions in reviews.
1. They will get ignored
2. It makes a mess of the review forum.

Bumped so that people can discuss the questions above.

There are two members here that own the Leila. Snoopy and Canon. They can elaborate more for you but if you like, there is the MYA Bambino which is tiny and smokes like a champ!

The Leila is good for what it is intended, a portable Hookah. It smokes good, but I would not use as an everyday Hookah. Mine gets a good work out on the weekends of travel. It is perfect for the car. The Vortex should be no problems to carry around, but most likely you can not use it in the car because of the chances of it tipping over.

I like the Leila a lot, it is great little Hookah of you are on the road a lot.

Now if I could only get the damn thing back together!! It is driving me crazy, I need it for this weekend!!

I got a leila about two weeks ago, just for the hell of it. I'm going to have to agree with most people here in that it smokes very well for its size, but if you're at home and able to, might as well go with a regular hookah. It's great for those long drives though.

My only complaint? The nifty lid/screen is nice for safety purposes, but you need a towel to hold when unscrewing the lid in order to ash the coals, as that sucker gets super hot to the touch. I believe I read somewhere that when you want to ash the coals, you can simply give the hookah a few good shakes, which will knock the ash off the coal and fall off the sides of the bowl and into the pit below, but I like to do it with tongs, which can make things tricky.

Other than that, great travel hookah.

I'd recommend a mya QT if you want something small and easy to clean for a household hookah. My QT is my go to hookah and the only one I have currently (for the summer). The Leila seems awesome though for road trips, etc.

It shouldn't be that hot. If your using more than half of a QL you risk melting the downstem. sleep.gif

Yes.

That seems like a terrible design not only can it melt it can break

I dont think you could really break it very easily unintentionally. It serves it's purpose as a portable/car hookah well. I dont know why people expect it to be an everyday hookah.

Because it costs $100 you'd think they could spring for some metal

Well I am very disappointed with mine now. There must be a crack in the glass, because my water leaked into my cup holder in my van this weekend. 100 bucks down the tubes. I do not know how it could have broke, I have not dropped it or bumped it. The plastic part where the hose port screws in is stripped and I did not torque on it at all. It did smoke good, but I am not gonna buy another. I guess I will try to mod my Bambino and see what I can come up with.

So if anyone needs some extra Leila parts let me know, I would like to recover a little of money. The bowl, the downstem and the hose are about all I have to sell all in one deal not sold separately.

If you can find the crack I'm sure you could repair it somehow. Epoxy works wonders for those types of things.
